Author: Yash Pal Singh, Chief Technology Officer at ATOM

As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of a dynamic and forward-thinking company like ATOM, every day brings with it a unique blend of challenges, innovations, and opportunities to go further. It’s a role that requires a deep understanding of technology, a visionary outlook, and the ability to lead a team towards a tech-savvy future. Let me take you on a journey through a typical day in my role at ATOM, where my responsibilities encompass a blend of data, strategy, and people management.

8:30am: I Begin the Day with a Cup of Coffee

Welcoming the day with a warm cup of coffee, I dive into the latest tech news and industry updates. It is important to stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and potential disruptions for my role. It helps me anticipate the tech landscape’s twists and turns. After that, I check my email inbox and prepare for the day ahead.

10am: Morning Huddle with the Team

Next, I sit for a regular meeting with our tech teams. We discuss ongoing projects, review development timelines, and address any technical challenges. These morning huddle sessions are essential for maintaining alignment and ensuring everyone is on the same page. Communication is the key to a fast-paced tech world.

11am: Discussing Strategy Through Data

Transitioning to the boardroom, I meet with the management team on a weekly basis to discuss our tech vision and long-term goals. We brainstorm ideas, explore opportunities for digital transformation, and evaluate how technology can drive innovation across the organisation. This is where and how the big ideas take shape into reality.

2pm: Diving into Tech Projects

In the afternoon, I usually immerse myself in detailed discussions about ongoing projects. I meet with project managers, engineers, and developers to review progress and offer guidance. These conversations ensure we overcome problems as a team and meet project timelines.

5pm: Reflecting on the Day’s Accomplishments

As the day draws to a close, I take a moment to assess the day's productivity and reflect on the discussions I’ve had. I also take a look at my schedule for the next working day to plan ahead and brief my team on any required next steps.

And that’s a wrap for the day! Being the CTO at ATOM means that I should always maintain a deep understanding of telecommunications technology, as well as strong leadership and business skills. I am responsible for driving innovation and overseeing all aspects of the company's technology, from developing and implementing new products and services to managing the network infrastructure and ensuring that it is secure and reliable. I cherish this role because my efforts can directly impact our millions of ATOM customers across Myanmar.
