Yangon, 05 August 2022 - ATOM’s initiative to advance the lives and education of the people of Myanmar starts with the contribution of one-third of the pledged corporate social responsibility fund. One billion kyats will be used in order to provide quality facilities and infrastructure that are needed in monastic and orphan schools across the country.
This community engagement is expected to benefit over 5,000 children and youth. The facilities and infrastructure contributed by ATOM will vary according to the needs of the specific monastic and orphanage communities. Certain activities may include upgrading existing facilities and infrastructure in order to provide a more effective and comfortable environment for learning and development for the children.
The first activity of the initiative was commemorated today at the YGW Taikkyi monastic school in Taikkyi township of the Yangon Region, where ATOM contributed to the building of a ceremony hall for school activities. At the event, YGW Taikkyi’s Head Monk and ATOM’s Management team shared remarks on the details of the “advancing life and education program.” Everyone has expressed their hopes that this would open more opportunities for the children of Myanmar. At the event, ATOM’s in-house doctor and healthcare expert gave a “Health & Nutrition Talk” to the community that was present.
“We are very grateful for this contribution from ATOM. We have over 500 students and/or children at our monastic school, and they are all pleased with their new ceremony hall and facilities. May it be an inspiration to the students to do better and follow their dreams. It is truly something to be thankful for, especially in these challenging times,” said Venerable Ashin Tay Zeinda of YGW Taikkyi monastic school.
Similarly, another commemoration will be organised at Dhammika Rama in Bagan Taung Village, Thanlyin at a later date. For Dhammika Rama monastic school, ATOM will support a school building for lessons.
ATOM has earmarked 3 billion kyats for corporate social responsibility projects till the end of 2023. ATOM pledges to make life beyond better for the people of Myanmar by advancing telecommunications, unlocking opportunities, and delivering a positive impact on the community.

Upon completion of this CSR initiative, we are incredibly humbled and truly hope we helped improve the lives and educational surroundings of the students and teaching staff in the many schools across Myanmar. Moreover, we are working closely with a consulting firm which is specialised in a strong track record in human rights risk assessment and management. The firm will advise ATOM on their activities in order to demonstrate ATOM’s commitment to keeping responsible business in line with human rights expectations to the employees and customers.,” said U Win Paing Kyaw, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of ATOM.
